Enforcing Executive Boundaries via API

Willpower is a finite resource. When you can't rely on yourself to stop working, you have to architect hard boundaries into your environment.

The lie every developer tells themselves is: 'Just five more minutes to fix this bug.' Five minutes turns into five hours, and your fundamental biological needs - sleep, hydration, human connection - are ignored.

I realised I could not rely on my own willpower to stop working. So, I built a system to enforce my boundaries for me. Using Gemini AI and Google Apps Script, my internal Executive Control Plane audits my calendar and emails to highlight where my energy is draining.

But more importantly, it enforces a 'Sanctuary Protocol.' As 6 PM approaches, the UI aggressively shifts colours. It physically interrupts my workflow, forcing box breathing exercises and demanding that I engage in life rituals before I am allowed to write another line of code.

We build automation to force compliance in our deployment pipelines. We must start building automation to force compliance in our own work-life boundaries.
